Facing the Future

I Don’t Change - God

Facing the Future

I have told you these things while I am still with you. But the Holy Spirit will come and help you, because the Father will send the Spirit to take my place. – John 14:25-26 (CEV)

Fortune-tellers, mediums, palm readers and the like are quite popular today. That’s not surprising. They were alive and well thousands of years ago in Israel. Their presence brings out a reality—many of you are craving answers to life’s burning questions. You want to be able to make the right choices in tough situations when circumstances aren’t clear and the outcome is unknown. Or, you simply want to know what’s going to happen in the not-too-distant future so you can mentally prepare for it.

Don’t be fooled. The truth is: no human knows what’s coming. No one can truly predict the future. As James 4:13-14 says, “You should know better than to say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to the city. We will do business there for a year and make a lot of money!’ What do you know about tomorrow? How can you be so sure about your life?”

Life is full of uncertainty, which is why you need My guidance.

I provide all kinds of insights and direction for living in the Bible. And, as Jesus told His followers in John 14, I sent the Holy Spirit as My presence in the world after Jesus departed. The Holy Spirit is your helper. He is there to teach, guide, inspire and direct you when things appear frightening and out-of-control.

Isn’t it good to know there is someone whom you can always depend on and turn to when you don’t know where to turn?
