God’s Love For You Is Unending
He Is Saying, “I Will Never Leave You!”
Did you know God takes great delight in you? In the same way a great artist takes pride in his or her work, God feels the same way about you. Stop for a moment and think about how much He loves you. Now multiply that love by 100, even 1,000, and you still won’t be close to the amount of love God has for you. Even in your worst moment, He is there, calling to you and reminding you of His love. No matter what you do or say, He will never leave your side.
Believing that a caring, loving God created you and longs to know you is the start of understanding the saying:
“I will never leave you. —God.”
You see, in God’s eyes you are a unique and special creation, and He longs to know you personally, to talk with you and walk with you, to help you navigate life.
God’s love for you is unending — no matter what you do or say or think, God loves you. And He always will.
That’s why He will never leave you.
Now, you may have encountered “religious” types who picture God as a harsh, unyielding taskmaster. You know the image: a cruel, unforgiving being, just aching for you to make a mistake so he can strike you down. Such a harsh, rigid picture of God often translates into authoritarian, judgmental, uncaring actions by those who embrace this view.
Don’t allow this to dictate your image of God. It isn’t true!
Instead, think about God’s promises, like “I will never leave you or forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). He says this because He loves you more than you can possibly imagine. Too often people get confused about this and try to say, “God could never love me because of what I’ve done…” or “It’s too late for me.”
But the bottom line is that those things simply are not true. God’s love is unending. In every moment of your life, He is there calling to you. Take a moment to think about that … to ask Him if He is there. Look and listen and know that He is there and that He loves you.
A Challenge For You
Read Genesis 1:26-31. Think about the close relationship God wants to have with you. Then make a list of three benefits you can see from having the same kind of relationship. Discuss your list with a close family member or friend. Ask what he or she thinks about it. Explain to this other person your concepts of God delighting in you. Then express those feelings to God. Nothing fancy — just talk to Him.
