In God’s Eyes
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. – Psalm 139:14 (NIV)
In my eyes you are a unique and special creation, and I long to know you personally, to talk with you and walk with you, to help you navigate life.
I take great delight in you. In the same way a great artist takes pride in his or her work, I feel the same way about you. Stop for a moment and think about how much I love you. Now multiply that love by 100, even 1,000, and you still won’t be close to the amount of love I have for you. Even in your worst moment, I am there, calling to you and reminding you of my love. No matter what you do or say, I will never leave your side.
My love for you is unending — no matter what you do or say or think, I love you. And I always will. That’s why I will never leave you.
Now, you may have encountered “religious” types who picture me as a harsh, unyielding taskmaster. You know the image: a cruel, unforgiving being, just aching for you to make a mistake so I can strike you down. It isn’t true!
Instead, think about my promises, like “I will never leave you or forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). I say this because I love you more than you can possibly imagine. Too often people get confused about this and try to say, “God could never love me because of what I’ve done…” or “It’s too late for me.”
But the bottom line is that those things simply are not true. My love is unending. Take a moment to think about that … to ask me if I am there. Look and listen and know that I am there and that I love you.
Catalyst for Spiritual Growth:
1 — Read Genesis 1:26-31. Think about the close relationship God wants to have with you. Then make a list of three benefits you can see from having the same kind of relationship.
2 — Discuss your list with a close family member or friend. Ask what he or she thinks about it. Explain to this other person your concepts of God delighting in you. Then express those feelings to God. Nothing fancy — just talk to Him.
3 — Write out these verses on a piece of paper and post it where you will see it daily as a reminder of God’s love for you. “God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn its people. He sent him to save them!” John 3:16-17 (CEV)
