The Joy That Only Children Can Bring
Children are a blessing and a gift from the Lord. – Psalm 127:3 (CEV)
Seemingly every day there is a new video, or story posted to the internet about the sometimes outrageous, and often hilarious things kids say. Like this amusing anecdote:
Teacher: How old is your father?
Johnny: 6 years old
Teacher: How is it possible?
Johnny: He only became a father after I was born.
Children are a blessing that I’ve shared with this world. Their smiles, their laughter, their excitement, their innocence, there is nothing like it. They are a gift, and you should treat them that way. Can they be difficult, rebellious, and disobedient? Of course they can. They still need guidance and instruction and lots of love.
If you approach your relationships with children as if they are a tiring obligation or an obnoxious pest you will not give them the best guidance and you will miss out on the blessings I have in store for you.
If, however, your approach is one of joyful discovery and wise investment you will learn how truly rewarding time with a child can be.
Children need good role-models. They need you. They need your time, your attention, your hugs, and your help. In return, you will see the joy that only children can bring.
