Love Will Overflow

Go and be loving. – God

Love Will Overflow

Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters. – Hebrews 13:1 (NLT)

You probably heard about the golden rule before…, “Do unto others.” But did you know that it originated with my son, Jesus? He said,

“Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.” (Matthew 7:12)

When you look at everything I ask of you in my word you’ll find out that it all boils down to two things, love me and love others. When you open your heart to me and let me fill you with my love, that love will begin to overflow into the lives of those around you.

What I want you to do is to come to the well of my love every day, so that your bucket will full enough to share with others. Because I don’t just want you to love those who love you, I want you to love everyone. I know that it’s a big task to love everyone. Some days you won’t feel like loving anyone. Some people are harder to love than others. That’s why I’m not asking you to do it alone.

Come to me, my well of love never runs dry. When you are tired or struggling or weary come to me. Ask me to increase your capacity to love. Ask me to give you strength and courage. Ask me to help you. I will be with you and will teach you how to love.

3 for 3

1 – Watch this video. Then pray for God to open your eyes. That he would show you people in your life who you need to be showing love to.

2 – Read Matthew 5:43-48. What are three things Jesus says about loving others in this passage? How can you apply one of those to your life today?

3 – Think about the golden rule for a moment. It’s a step towards living a life of love. So next time you are about to make a grumpy complaint at a cashier or to snap back at a family member stop and think about the way you’d like to be treated and try to handle the situation with kindness. You’ll be surprised at how much it can change the situation (and your life.)
