No Separation Possible
I am sure that nothing can separate us from God’s love—not life or death, not angels or spirits, not the present or the future, and not powers above or powers below. Nothing in all creation can separate us from God’s love for us in Christ Jesus our Lord! – Romans 8:38-39 (CEV)
They call it the Grand Canyon for a reason: it is grand. More than 275 miles long, up to 18 miles wide, and more than a mile deep. The Colorado River, which divides the national park into the North Rim and the South Rim, is 1,450 miles long. It’s no wonder that nearly five million people come to Arizona each year to marvel at this wonder.
Unfortunately, the dimensions of this natural creation can be like a picture of people’s distance from Me. Some have tried to paint a picture of Me as some kind of cruel, grumpy old man just waiting to strike you down. They pretend that you can do things—give away lots of money, help elderly folks with meals and trips to the hospital, or be at church every time the doors are open—that will make Me love you more. Or that you can make so many mistakes that it will make Me love you less.
Neither extreme is true.
I want you to follow the guidelines for living I set down in the Bible because I know they will help your life go better. You will live longer, be closer to friends and family, and know the blessings of contentment and happiness. But My love for you isn’t up for discussion. I already proved it by sending My Son.
