Power in Weakness
One of Satan’s angels was sent to make me suffer terribly, so that I would not feel too proud. Three times I begged the Lord to make this suffering go away. But he replied, “My kindness is all you need. My power is strongest when you are weak.” So if Christ keeps giving me his power, I will gladly brag about how weak I am. – 2 Corinthians 12:7-9 (CEV)
You’ve been wounded and brought low, wondering how you can ever recover from the heartache and rejection.
Right now, you probably feel pretty weak. Doesn’t feel too good, does it? You like to feel self-sufficient, together, on top and in control. As the old saying goes, “A man’s got his pride!” But that’s the problem. I don’t like pride. Pride causes most of the problems in the world. It caused Satan to rebel against Me and get thrown out of heaven. It’s still causing havoc and strife.
I know. You’re hurting. So, come tell Me about it. Take time out of your busy day to slow down and talk with Me.
I know it’s tough to feel grateful when you feel weak and at the bottom of the barrel. But it’s in a position of humility that you can learn the most. It is only when you don’t feel strong, powerful and able to overcome any obstacle that you can learn to rely on My power. When you are weak, I am strong. It is by relying on My strength that can see me heal, comfort and encourage you.
Catalyst for Spiritual Growth
- Paul, who wrote this letter, said he had learned the secret of having a lot or a little, and to be content whether he had a lot of food or had to go hungry. How can learning contentment help you recover from a broken heart? Is there anything you would like to tell Me about that?
