The World Needs Love
“My dear friends, we must love each other. Love comes from God, and when we love each other, it shows that we have been given new life. We are now God’s children, and we know him.” – 1 John 4:7 (CEV)
Looking over your social media newsfeed do you feel down? Does the amount of negative news out way the positive? Do the comment of friends and acquaintances feel more like arguments than real conversation?
The barrage of negativity is not new to the era of social media. A long time ago a follower of mine named Job was going through a rough time, tired of his friend’s constant negativity he told them “you are miserable comforters, all of you!” (Job 16:2 NIV)
The world needs love not negativity. It needs people who will spread kindness instead of gossip. People who will lead a hand, not their option. People who will listen and show empathy. People who will love.
I have called my followers to be those people, the ones who will love unconditionally, who will give without seeking return, who will shower others with kindness and compassion.
I know that it’s not easy to love everyone. That’s why I’m not asking you to do it alone.
I am the source of love. So when you need love, come to me. When you find it hard to love, ask me to help. When you are struggling, look to me for strength. When you feel like giving in, or giving up look to me.
Ask me to help you love the people around you, and I will.
Catalyst for Spiritual Growth:
1 – Watch this video. Then think about how you can show people in your life love and kindness.
2 – Consider what changes you can make to how you post, comment, and like things on social media. How can you demonstrate love and kindness online?
3 – Its counterculture to lay down your “right” to share your option, to turn aside from an argument, to prove that you are right. Read Proverbs 15:1-4 and Proverbs 20:3. Think about what these verses say about the way you use words and how word can be used to spread love and kindness, or not.
