HOLD ON TO MY PEACE IN THE MIDST OF CHAOS.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

This year has been volatile. Your world has become unpredictable and scary.

Many of the things you have put your trust in have fallen away. Your health, your safety, your city, your economy — they are not as stable as you once thought.

Not only have your circumstances become unpredictable. You may have found that some of your friends, family, or co-workers have become unpredictable as well. This year has left many people on edge. That might even include you.

I hear the prayers echoed around the world.

“Why can’t I control my temper?”

“Why do I wake up frustrated, before I even start the day?”

“Why does anxiety grip me?”

“Why do I let worry overtake me?”

“Why am I so exhausted?”

The questions go on and on. But you must never forget… in the midst of the chaos, I give you my peace.

I don’t give as the world gives. I give good gifts. Lasting gifts. Eternal gifts. And the greatest gift of all is my son, Jesus, who brings peace through His sacrifice on the cross. That peace can sustain you through any storm. It will guide you, protect you, and calm you.

My peace is the answer to your anxiety and worry.

I am not surprised by your current situation. And I am working out my plan in the midst of it all.

Trust me to guide you. Trust me to protect you. Trust me to love you.

One step at a time. That is all I ask of you.

— God

NEXT STEPS:

  • Read John 14. What comfort can you find in this passage of scripture?

  • Listen to this song, “Anything is Possible.”

  • Sometimes we find ourselves at a loss for words when we’re in the midst of trying times. Take time during your day to think of the ways God has guided and protected you even in the midst of these difficult days. Ask Him to bring those thoughts to mind when you are struggling.
