I AM A GIVING GOD…

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8

It’s the time of year when a lot of people are thinking about gifts. Whether it’s family, friends, co-workers, or neighbors, the questions are often the same…

How do you show your love or appreciation for those you care about?

It’s exciting and sometimes nerve-racking to think of just the right gift or act of service.

You might be surprised to hear this, but I think a lot about gifts as well.

I am a giving God. All the time. All year long. Year after year. Decade after decade. Century after century.

I never change.

You may hear some say around this time of year, “We should be more generous. We should do something special for those who have less.”

You may also hear the whispers of the worried, “It’s been a hard year. We may have to pull back. Less gifts. Less treats. Maybe next year.”

I hear those thoughts as well. But take heart… that is not the case with me.

I will never hold back. I never lack.

I pour out my greatest gifts on all… always.

The Scriptures say, “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”

So what are my gifts?

The breath in your body. The blood in your veins. The food on your table.

It’s all from me.

And that’s just the start.

The gift of my Son. His blood. His sacrifice. His cleansing power.

That is yours as well.

And I have more for you.

More mercy. More grace. More joy. More peace.

I have gifts in abundance… treasures that are overflowing.

This Christmas season… and every day… don’t be afraid to bring your needs to me. Let me know what you are worried about… what keeps you up at night. I am a giving God, and I care deeply for you. I will listen. I will answer.

I love you.
